The Institut français is in charge of implementing France’s cultural action abroad. The agency was set up by the July 27, 2010 French Foreign Cultural Action Act and its enabling decree of December 30, 2010.

The mission of the French Institute of Cyprus is to cover all missions set by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
  • Promote and disseminate the French culture and language - The Institute keeps the Francophonie alive in relation to the Cypriot Authorities.
  • Facilitate cultural exchange (visual arts and performing arts) - Co-produce shows in Cyprus that reflect modern French Culture and create partnerships with local cultural organizations.
  • Facilitate student mobility and promote higher education in France or French studies in Cyprus (Ecole Française/ The Department of French Studies, University of Cyprus).
  • Strengthen scientific cooperation between France and Cyprus. The IFC programmes cover all fields of cultural cooperation: artistic and literary, educational and linguistic, academic and scientific activities through various approaches: exhibitions, lectures, debates, films, concerts, dance performances and theater, French courses, training of teachers, etc. ....
