Although she currently resides in Paris whilst performing concerts worldwide; Vakia Stavrou remains connected to her hometown and honors the Nicosia International Festival with a presentation of her new album “VAKIA”. Alongside her on this melodic journey, are the Cypriot virtuoso musicians, Socrates Leptos on classical guitar, and Stelios Pittas on cello.
This highly anticipated album serves as a testament of her global recognition. It’s infused with aromas from Peru (Mechita), and Mexico (Cucurrucucu Paloma), as well as personal compositions such as “Dakri Filakto”, “Pou Den Se Niazi”, “Thalassino Nero”, “Sozinha”, and “Ange ou Diable”. The album also features soulful renditions of songs that have left their mark on the global music scene, like “Alfonsina y el Mar” (Mercedes Sosa), “Esperanza” (Charles Aznavour), and “In a Manner of Speaking” (Tuxedomoon).
