Cooperation between the University of Cyprus and the Nicosia International Festival on "Erotokritos" by the National Theatre of Northern Greece
 
On the occasion of the hosting of the performance "Erotokritos" by Vincenzo Kornaros of the National Theatre of Northern Greece by the Nicosia International Festival… never ends on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, and in the framework of the Festival's cooperation with the University of Cyprus, an open discussion with the audience is organized with the introduction of Professor Dr. Mary Roussou of the University of Cyprus.
 
The discussion will take place within the framework of the Parallel Programme of the Nicosia International Festival... which does not end at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (3rd floor) at 19:30 and admission is free to the public.
 
Dr. Mary Roussou was born in Athens. She is a graduate of the Greek-French School of the Ursuline Monks and a graduate of the Department of Classical Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ioannina. She continued her studies at the University of Birmingham, England, where she obtained an MPhil degree from the Department of Byzantine, Ottoman, and Modern Greek Studies in 1990 and a PhD degree from the Department of English Literature of the same University in 2001. He has published a book published in the Cyprus Centre for Scientific Research series entitled Victorian Travellers in Cyprus: a Garden of their Own, to 2002 and articles in journals, edited volumes and conference proceedings. He has been teaching Modern Greek Literature at the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, University of Cyprus since 2008. She is a research associate at the Postgraduate Programme in the History of Art at the Cyprus University of Technology, Limassol, where she frequently gives lectures and postgraduate seminars. She collaborated in the research project Zephyros, a collaboration between the Sylvia loannou Foundation and the University of Cyprus, as a supervisor of a research group of students, for the transcription and digitization of travel texts in English. Her research interests include travel literature, comparative literature, literary theory, history of ideas, 19th and 20th century poetry and prose, and the relationship between literature and the visual arts.
 
At 20:30 the performance of "Erotokritos" will follow, conceived, and directed by Argyro Chioti, an old acquaintance of the Nicosia International Festival, where she presented Dante's "Divine Comedy", a production of Onassis Cultural Centre, in 2019.
