Δήμος Λευκωσίας - Για πρώτη φορά στην Κύπρο η Schaubuhne με τον «ΑΜΛΕΤ» σε σκηνοθεσία Thomas Ostermeier

Με το ασυμβίβαστο όραμα που του χάρισε τον Χρυσό Λέοντα της Μπιενάλε της Βενετίας για το σύνολο του έργου του, ο θρύλος του ευρωπαϊκού θεάτρου Thomas Ostermeier επισκέπτεται για πρώτη φορά την Κύπρο δίνοντας νέο νόημα στον όρο «τρελή ιδιοφυΐα». Με μια έναρξη μέσα στη βροχή και τις λάσπες, ο «Άμλετ» ανταποκρίνεται στη φήμη του ως μια από τις σπουδαιότερες παραγωγές του έργου του Σαίξπηρ. Η ποπ μουσική, τα drag shows και οι μονομαχίες στη βασιλική αυλή συνυπάρχουν αρμονικά στην ξέφρενη, θρυλική παραγωγή του παγκόσμιου βερολινέζικου θεάτρου της Schaubuhne, που έρχεται στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Λευκωσίας έχοντας λάβει διεθνή αναγνώριση στην παγκόσμια περιοδεία της. Ο cult σταρ του Σαίξπηρ Λαρς Έιντινγκερ (Ριχάρδος Γ') δίνει μια αξέχαστη, ακατάσχετη ερμηνεία στον ρόλο του πρίγκηπα της Δανίας γλιστρώντας ανάμεσα στους διάσημους μονολόγους του Άμλετ και τους θορυβώδεις αυτοσχεδιασμούς του, ενώ ταυτόχρονα βρίζει, δολοπλοκεί και βιντεοσκοπεί.

Στο έργο του Σαίξπηρ ο Άμλετ τρελαίνεται. Ο πατέρας του πέθανε ξαφνικά από μια παράξενη ασθένεια και η μητέρα του παντρεύτηκε τον αδελφό του συζύγου της μετά από μόλις ένα μήνα. Ο Άμλετ έχει νυχτερινά οράματα του πατέρα του, ο οποίος ισχυρίζεται ότι ο αδελφός του τον δηλητηρίασε και προτρέπει τον Άμλετ να πάρει εκδίκηση και να σκοτώσει τον νέο πατριό του. Ο Σαίξπηρ αναπαριστά τη βασιλική αυλή της Δανίας ως ένα διεφθαρμένο πολιτικό σύστημα που γίνεται ένας παρανοϊκός λαβύρινθος για τον Άμλετ. Ο φόνος, η προδοσία, η χειραγώγηση και η σεξουαλικότητα είναι τα όπλα που χρησιμοποιούνται στον πόλεμο για τη διατήρηση της εξουσίας.

Βιογραφικό του Thomas Ostermeier

Γεννήθηκε το 1968 στο Soltau. Σπούδασε σκηνοθεσία στο Hochschule für Schauspielkunst "Ernst Busch" του Βερολίνου. Εργάστηκε ως ηθοποιός, ως βοηθός σκηνοθέτη και σκηνοθέτης, ενώ διετέλεσε καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής του Baracke στο Deutsches Theater του Βερολίνου.

Από τον Σεπτέμβριο του 1999 ο Ostermeier είναι Καλλιτεχνικός Διευθυντής της Schaubühne. Έχει επίσης, σκηνοθετήσει αρκετές παραγωγές στα Münchner Kammerspiele, όπως: "Der starke Stamm" της Marieluise Fleißer, "Vor Sonnenaufgang" του Gerhart Hauptmann, "Die Ehe der Maria Braun" του Rainer Werner Fassbinder και "Susn" του Herbert Achternbusch. Τον Νοέμβριο του 2004 διορίστηκε "artiste associé" για το Φεστιβάλ της Αβινιόν από τον καλλιτεχνικό διευθυντή του Φεστιβάλ, Vincent Baudriller και έκτοτε παρουσιάζει τακτικά παραστάσεις στο Φεστιβάλ. Να σημειωθεί ότι οι παραγωγές του περιοδεύουν παγκοσμίως.

Διακρίσεις

Μερικά από τα έργα του που βραβεύτηκαν είναι η "Νόρα" (2003), με τα βραβεία "Nestroy" και "Politika", η "Hedda Gabler" (2006), με το βραβείο κοινού της Theatergemeinde του Βερολίνου και το "Little Foxes", το 2015, με το ίδιο βραβείο. Οι παραγωγές του "John Gabriel Borkmann" και "Άμλετ" έχουν βραβευτεί με διεθνή βραβεία ως οι καλύτερες παραγωγές της σεζόν 2008/2009: "John Gabriel Borkmann" με το Grand Prix de la Critique της Γαλλίας (Απρίλιος 2009) και "Άμλετ" με το Βραβείο Κριτικών της Βαρκελώνης (Σεπτέμβριος 2009). Στη Χιλή ο "Άμλετ" τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο κριτικών ως "Καλύτερη Διεθνής Παραγωγή 2011", στην Τουρκία με το τιμητικό βραβείο του 18^ου Φεστιβάλ Θεάτρου της Κωνσταντινούπολης το 2012 και στην Τεχεράνη ως καλύτερη σκηνοθεσία στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Θεάτρου FADJR το 2016. Περαιτέρω, το 2017, ο Ostermeier τιμήθηκε με το "Premio della Critica Teatrale" για την παραγωγή του "Ριχάρδου Γ'” και το 2019 για τη "Δωδέκατη Νύχτα" του Σαίξπηρ στην Comédie-Française με το "Prix Molière" για την καλύτερη παράσταση της σεζόν.

Μεταξύ άλλων, το 2009, διορίστηκε "Officier des Arts et des Lettres" από το γαλλικό Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού και προήχθη στο βαθμό του "Commandeur" το 2015. Παράλληλα, το 2011 έλαβε τον Χρυσό Λέοντα της Μπιενάλε της Βενετίας για το σύνολο του έργου του. Επίσης, το 2016 ανακηρύχθηκε επίτιμος διδάκτορας του Πανεπιστημίου του Κεντ για τη συμβολή του στο ευρωπαϊκό θέατρο.

Κριτικές

Για τον “Hamlet” του Ostermeier ο διεθνής Τύπος έγραψε:

«Ο "Άμλετ" του δεν μοιάζει ούτε λεπτό ξεπερασμένος, εν μέρει λόγω της ωραίας σκηνικής του τεχνικής, εν μέρει επειδή όσο μεγαλώνει ο Eidinger τόσο περισσότερο λειτουργεί η υπερβολική συμπεριφορά του στον ρόλο».

Θα πραγματοποιηθούν δύο παραστάσεις του «Άμλετ» στο Δημοτικό Θέατρο Λευκωσίας, την Πέμπτη 14/12/2023, στις 20:30 και την Παρασκευή 15/12/2023, στις 18:30. Θα παρουσιαστεί στα γερμανικά με υπέρτιτλους στα ελληνικά και στα αγγλικά. Κατά τη διάρκεια της παράστασης θα χρησιμοποιηθούν στροβοσκοπικά φώτα.

For the first time in Cyprus Schaubuhne with "HAMLET" directed by Thomas Ostermeier

With the uncompromising vision that won him the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale for his entire oeuvre, the legend of European theatre Thomas Ostermeier visits Cyprus for the first time, giving new meaning to the term "mad genius". From its mud-splattered, rain-soaked opening, Thomas Ostermeier’s “Hamlet” delivers on its reputation as one of the great interpretations of Shakespeare. Pop music, drag shows and duels in the royal courtyard coexist harmoniously in the frenetic, legendary production of Schaubuhne's world-class Berlin theatre, which comes to the Nicosia International Festival having received international acclaim in its world tour. Cult Shakespearean star Lars Eidinger (Richard III) gives an unforgettable, no-holds-barred performance as the Dane, gliding between Hamlet’s famous soliloquies and raucous improvisations as he swears, schemes, and videotapes.

In Shakespeare’s play, Hamlet is going crazy. His father has died suddenly of a strange disease, and his mother has married her deceased husband’s brother, of all people, after just one month. Hamlet has nighttime visions of his father, who claims his brother poisoned him, and exhorts Hamlet to take revenge and kill his new stepfather. Shakespeare represents the Danish royal court as a corrupt political system which becomes a paranoid maze for Hamlet. Murder, betrayal, manipulation, and sexuality are the weapons used in the war to preserve power.

Biography of Thomas Ostermeier

He was born in 1968 in Soltau. He studied directing at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst "Ernst Busch" in Berlin. He worked as an actor, assistant director, and director. He was artistic director of Baracke at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin.

Since September 1999 Ostermeier has been the Artistic Director of the Schaubühne. He has also directed several productions at the Münchner Kammerspiele, including: "Der starke Stamm" by Marieluise Fleißer, "Vor Sonnenaufgang" by Gerhart Hauptmann, "Die Ehe der Maria Braun" by Rainer Werner Fassbinder and "Susn" by Herbert Achternbusch. In November 2004 he was appointed "artiste associé" for the Avignon Festival by the artistic director of the Festival, Vincent Baudriller, and since then he has regularly presented performances at the festival. It should be noted that his productions tour worldwide.

Distinctions

Some of his award-winning plays include “Nora” (2003), with the “Nestroy” and “Politika” awards, “Hedda Gabler” (2006), with the Berlin Theatergemeinde Audience Award, and “Little Foxes”, in 2015, with the same award. "John Gabriel Borkmann" and "Hamlet" have been awarded international awards as the best productions of the 2008/2009 season. In Chile, "Hamlet" was awarded the Critics' Prize as "Best International Production 2011", in Turkey with the Honorary Award of the 18th Istanbul Theatre Festival in 2012 and in Tehran as Best Director at the FADJR International Theatre Festival in 2016. Further, in 2017, Ostermeier was awarded the "Premio della Critica Teatrale" for his production of Richard III and in 2019 for Shakespeare's “Twelfth Night” at the Comédie-Française with the "Prix Molière" for the best performance of the season.

Among other things, in 2009, he was appointed "Officier des Arts et des Lettres" by the French Ministry of Culture and promoted to the rank of "Commandeur" in 2015, while in 2011 he received the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale for all his work. Also, in 2016 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Kent for his contribution to European theatre.
