Η διακεκριμένη βιολίστρια της Σ.Ο.Κ. Ayşe Karaoğlan και η βιολοντσελίστα Pinar Bayraktar, μακροχρόνιες συνεργάτιδες στη μουσική δωματίου, στρέφουν τώρα την καλλιτεχνική τους περιέργεια προς το ρεπερτόριο για κουαρτέτο με πιάνο. Στο νέο αυτό ταξίδι, ενώνουν τις δυνάμεις τους με δύο εξαιρετικούς μουσικούς: τον υποκορυφαίο βιολίστα της Σ.Ο.Κ., Vladimir Tkachenko, και τον λαμπρό Κύπριο πιανίστα Μανώλη Νεοφύτου.
Με κοινό την αγάπη τους για τη μουσική του Brahms, το πρόγραμμα τους ξεκινά με το Κουαρτέτο του με πιάνο αρ. 3 που έγραψε το 1875. Γράφοντας στον εκδότη του, ο Brahms περιγράφει με ζοφερό τρόπο το έργο: «Φαντάσου έναν άνθρωπο που πρόκειται να αυτοκτονήσει επειδή δεν του έχει απομείνει τίποτα άλλο». Αυτή η απόγνωση αντικατοπτρίζεται στο θυελλώδες πάθος που διατρέχει το κουαρτέτο και πηγάζει από τη βαθιά εσωτερική σύγκρουση του Brahms ανάμεσα στην αγωνία για την ψυχική ασθένεια του φίλου του Robert Schumann, και τον κρυφό του έρωτα για τη σύζυγο του Schumann, Clara.
Τον αμέσως επόμενο χρόνο, το 1876, ο 15χρονος Gustav Mahler, φοιτητής στο Κονσερβατόριο της Βιέννης, γράφει το Κουαρτέτο με πιάνο σε Λα ελάσονα. Το πρώιμο αυτό έργο διατρέχεται από μια δυσοίωνη μελαγχολία και μια έντονη συναισθηματική φόρτιση, ενώ μπορεί κανείς να διακρίνει επιρροές από τη μουσική των Schumann και Brahms.

The distinguished CySO violinist Ayşe Karaoğlan and cellist Pinar Bayraktar, long-standing chamber music partners, are now turning their artistic curiosity towards the piano quartet repertoire. To embark on this new journey, they join forces with two exceptional musicians: CySO’s sub-principal violist Vladimir Tkachenko and the brilliant Cypriot pianist Manolis Neophytou.
Sharing a deep love for Brahms, their programme starts with his Piano quartet no. 3 in C minor composed in 1875 — a piece with a fascinating connection to the composer’s life. Brahms famously described it with dark emotional imagery, writing to his publisher: “Imagine a man who is about to shoot himself because nothing else remains to him.” This vivid sentiment reflects the quartet’s turbulent emotional landscape - rooted in Brahms’ deep inner conflict between pain for the mental illness of his friend Robert Schumann and his own love for his wife, Clara Schumann.
Just one year later, in 1876, the 15 year-old Gustav Mahler, then student at Vienna Conservatory, composed his Piano quartet in A minor. There is a foreboding darkness and intensity of emotion in this very early work, whereby one can hear echoes of the music of Schumann and Brahms.

Violinist Ayşe Karaoğlan studied at the Ankara State Conservatorium and the Sydney Conservatorium. She has been Associate Concertmaster at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet (2001-2007) and previously performed as extra violinist at the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, Ayşe has performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, the Oxford Philharmonic and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. Since 2007 she is a member in the first violin section at the CySO. She is also the violinist of Aeterna Piano Trio.
Violist Vladimir Tkachenko graduated from the Saint-Petersburg State Conservatoire in 1997. He has been a member of the Volgograd Symphony Orchestra (1997–2000) and Cairo Symphony Orchestra (2000-2003) as well as the principal viola of the Cairo Chamber Orchestra (2003-2005). In 2025 he joined the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in the position of sub-principal viola. He has given solo recitals and chamber music concerts with various ensembles.
Cellist Pinar Bayraktar has been a member of Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra for more than fifteen years. She now lives in Cyprus where she is very active as a chamber music performer, as well as orchestra musician. She is the cellist of Aeterna Piano Trio.
Pianist Manolis Neophytou graduated from Moscow State Conservatoire. He has won several international piano competitions and has performed as virtuoso solo pianist with orchestras and in recitals in the USA, Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the UK, Ireland, Russia, Korea and South Africa, among other countries. He has released two personal albums: “Greek Song Through a Piano” and “From Tchaikovsky to Hadjidakis”.
